A Writer, Filmmaker and a Photographer, DJ Lanphier is passionate about all things production, technical and creative.
Over the years, he’s worked on nearly every type of production possible, from big budget Hollywood movies to national live-to-air network
TV specials and rock and roll music videos shot in the most unlikely of locations.
He’s been very fortunate and worked with an incredible list of talented people including Johnny Depp, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, U2, and (literally) hundreds more. Looking back, DJ has ”worn a lot of hats”, learning to create media content for film, TV and web that is professionally produced, creatively compelling and engages the audience in new and challenging ways.
As a Producer, DJ is a skilled liaison between tech, production and creative who sees the big picture and knows how to get the job done. He’s worked with composer, theatrical
director and artist John Moran, author, teacher, and documentarian Douglas Rushkoff and musician and producer Martin Kierzenbaum.
As a Writer and Producer, with Jason Taragan of Rumpus Entertainment , DJ created “TV Show”, a multi-platform, edgy and informative variety show pilot.
From 2009 to 2011, DJ wrote about music for Spinner @ AOL Music and was thrilled to interview Kristin Hersh, The Walkmen, Broken Social Scene, Young the Giant,
Nicole Atkins and cover shows by The Vaccines, Robert Fripp, Aimee Mann, Daniel Lanois, She & Him, Phosphorescent, The Morning Blenders, Delta Spirit, Bela Fleck,
Bettye Levette, Freelance Whales and many more.
In 2008, as the “go to tech guy” at GQ Magazine’s Material Interest at men.style.com, he wrote about computers, cars, audio gear, cell phones, and other fun things.
In the world of radio, DJ co-produced The MediaSquat with Douglas Rushkoff on WFMU 91.1 FM.
As a photographer, he has shot dozens of musical performers, always hoping to capture that allusive and iconic rock and roll image.
