It is simply untrue. The current bill will NOT extend coverage to illegal immigrants. What YOU have presented is entirely different and separate from providing health care coverage to illegal immigrants.

What you are talking about is standing law (which is different from state to state) on how emergency patients are treated when they arrive at a hospital, including illegal immigrants, visiting foreign citizens, and uninsured Americans. Generally, most hospitals choose to willingly treat patients who arrive in ER regardless of their citizenship status, or lack or insurance. But, it is – in some states and hospitals – practiced voluntarily, and hospitals can and do refuse to treat patients on a patient by patient basis.

I don't think anyone wants to turn away people from the hospitals. Least of all the physicians who would be placed in that position.
