It’s always interesting for me to go back to omaha, because it’s a place of great change and yet nothing changes. A few things that I found notable…
One of the great reasons Omaha even exists is the beer trade. During the late 1800′s, the major beer companies established distribution points across the country as the expansion of settlers and goods moved ever westward. Omaha was one of those places that Anhauser-Bush and the Schlitz Brewing Co. established huge warehouses where their brew was sent to all points beyond. This old sidewalk logo is all that remains of the Schlitz legacy (that I could find).
But, the old Anhauser-Bush office still stands.
It’s now an architectural firm’s office. One of the nicer ones in those parts, to be sure. Sadly, for years the local color was knocked down and replaced by modern eyesores that give the place no sense of the historical character that it deserves.
