With the availablity of movie making software such as Final Cut Pro and Flash, pretty much anyone can pull together a music video to one of their favorite songs. I’m rather fascinated with this homegrown movement and enjoy it immensely. The results aren’t always the best, but now and again something shines through.
This homemade video for “Country Death Song” by the Violent Femmes stuck out. It’s a dark song to begin with, and it’s always interesting to see how literate interpretations of songs with violent themes, which are somewhat masked by the music, are brought forth and given a more rounded if more violent treatment by the addition of visual images.
