Michelle Malkin asks….

… with no sense of irony:

The oh-so-compassionate Left is snickering at the possibility that Floyd Allen may have been responsible for the crimes with which Claude Allen has now been charged. [...]

I don’t see why this is funny. If it turns out that Claude Allen, a father of three who reportedly has bailed out his troubled twin brother before, tried to protect Floyd Allen and ruined his career out of familial love, that is an extraordinary thing.

Tell me again why this is funny.

Because you can’t write stuff this bizarre. It comes off like an Ed Wood movie.

And, you know what else is funny? Watching wingnuts screech, whine and generally get bent out of shape when people poke a stick at stuff you don’t think is funny.

Of course, the bitter irony here is red hot, since the twin story was broke by an Evil Liberal in the first place. So, it’s easy to see how the humor here is lost on the average wingnut. It’s so hard to laugh when you are grinding your teeth in anger.

Now that’s funny!

Hey–Mr. Allen worked for Baker Botts from 1991-1995. He is, as they say on the Sopranos, PROTECTED.

  • David

He will have sufficient counsel no doubt. But, if it is indeed Floyd the twin, I don’t expect that anyone from Baker Botts would offer their services. It’s an interesting if sad story, as it is unfolding. It seemed odd to me that someone with such a high profile career would be involved in such a scam. My first reaction was “gambling habit” or something like that. An addiction or an illness. But, it may be the brother. We’ll see.

Tell me again why this is funny.

You know that Malkin would cross her arms, huff, and tartly say exactly this sentence during the campfire scene in Blazing Saddles.

  • David

No doubt. I’ve often believed that a sense of humor is best defined at ones ability to laugh at oneself, which includes ones beliefs and passions.

Malkin doesn’t strike me as someone capable of that, soemhow. I could be wrong. But, I doubt it.

Blazing Saddles is funny, and that scene in particular, just because they did it, you know? It’s a common enough scene. But, putting it in a movie just makes it iconic.

And, it’s still funny after all this time. Mongo like!
