An original sky

Some people will tell you that the sky is pretty much the same all around the world. But, they’d be wrong. This is something I know, having grown up in Nebraska and spent time in the Badlands and the Sandhills. I’ve seen some amazing sky all over the world as well. The Scottish sky was as unique as I’ve ever had the privilege of beholding.

Have been blessed the past few years and done a good amount of travel. This past December, we were in the UK. Heading back to London from Edinburgh, the pic was taken with my Sony DCR-VX2000, using the still photo memory stick, as the train was soaring along at about 90 mph, looking east as a storm worked it’s way around us.

So near to the Winter Equinox, the sun only rises to about ten o’clock on the horizon so far north. And, there are only about six and a half hours of real sun light during the day.

It was extraordinary.

I’ve been told for the money that Cannon is the best digital camera and also that you get what you pay for so I’m hesitant to make a quick buy. I need a good one that’s cost effective, around 200-400 lar-dol’s. any ideas?

Canon’s are nice. I’m assuming you just want a nice quickshot still with a memory card or stick? Essentially, cameras are all about the glass. Lenses. And, that’s why Canon’s are held in such high regard. Sony as well. If you are willing to drop up to 200 to 400 beans on a still camera, you’ll do pretty well.

For a basic point and shoot, Nikon’s are nice. This one is not too bad, good to throw in your pocket. And, it’s 4.0 MB pics… which is pretty nice. Canon’s version is pretty much the same deal, same price.

If you want something a bit more heavy duty, I’d go for the Canon Powershot or the Sony Mavica.

I’m partial to the Canon Powershot, but you should go to someplace like Best Buy or B and H and check them out, see what you like. You’re going to want to get a case, and other junk too, maybe an extra memory stick card…

It’s a matter of what you want to do with it. If you want something that will give you some choices with the pictures, cause you’re a budding Amsel Adams, then get something like the Powershot or the Mavica. But, if you just want something to plunk in your pocket to snap off stuff… get one of the others…

    My dos centavos… have fun!
