Crossroads: To blog or not to blog…

July 10th, 2004 Comments

It seems that I’ve come to that crossroads in the blogging journey. “To blog or not to blog, that is the question.” Like so many, I realize how much time it takes away from other pursuits. It’s something I’ve been dealing with for the past year or so. I really enjoy blogging and the interaction, but I’ve also made a few attempts to curb it, without much success. (Not always a good idea to make such attempts public. Blogging is very addictive.) I spend much less time blogging now, but still too much. And, I’m definitely experiencing a certain amount of “burnout”. The posts are suffering in quality. An interesting article in Wired on this issue…

It’s also a writing concern. I feel that blogging takes away from a certain amount of the creative impulse and energy. While it’s also a great cathartic exercise, I have to wonder how it all balances out in the end.

So, my output on Jakeneck (and the newly launched Overt Innuendo) is going to be much curtailed. I’ll be focusing more on this blog, and using it to discuss not only the media issues which I love to focus upon, but also some of the other issues-political, non-political and such, that I’ve been neglecting. Some of these will be topics and themes which I’m exploring in the documentary I am currently working on…

For now, I’m going to keep the comments on, since there isn’t that much traffic here anyway. Feel free to comment, by I might not always reply, so keep that in mind. If you require an immediate response, please feel free to send me an e-mail.

This isn’t in any way a “goodbye”. I am going to continue to blog. It’s just that the output is going to be a bit more sparse, and, presumedly, of a much higher quality.

Where am I?
